(FACSS) Week of Chinese Culture

Dear fellow students:

The year of 2009 is the 60th anniversary of our great country and the 30th anniversary of establishing diplomat relations between China and the United states. FACSS is going to launch a series of celebration activities to celebrate this special year, which is called “The week of national day”. “The week of national day” includes the traditional activities (Karaoke competition), as well as lots of new innovative, meaningful and influential events. We do have a new segment named “The Chinese- Talk about our stories”, which will be putting up presentations, reading poems, and singing songs together to celebrate the 30th anniversary of establishing diplomat relations between China and the United states. This year, our “Baby Talent Show” will provide a stage for babies and their parents to get involved in different activities to gain a better understanding of our country. “The Sport Game” is going to offer all kinds of sport games to increase the team spirits and friendship among the Chinese community.

“The week of national day” is going to be held form 9/18/2009 to 10/4/2009. We are now working on organizing the time schedules and the locations of the events, and that will be available through emails to all of you. We are going to provide Chinese traditional clothes for students to wear and to take pictures, giving out souvenirs such as Chinese knots. Also, we are going to tell stories about China and United States diplomat relationship. The event will be held on 9/18/2009 at Reitz Union, Gator Night

At the national day of the 60th anniversary, we are going to call for all the UF Chinese students and scholars to come to paint the 100 meters long wall. We are going to use paintbrushes to express our love to our country. The painting is going to be seen by the crossing vehicles and that is how we are going to send out messages out. This event will be held at the Chinese National Day, 10/1/2009.

6 The Mid-autumn Festival Tea Party. To celebrate the Mid-autumn festival, FACSS is inviting Chinese students and their American friends to come out and meet at the Orange and Brew Café. We are going to provide Chinese tea and moon-cakes to share with them; and, at the same time, we are going to introduce the Chinese tea culture to all of your American friends. This event will be held on 10/2/2009, Orange and Brew Café.
